Message from the Provincial Grand Primo 2012 |
|
I have the privilege to serve the Worcestershire Grand Lodge as its Chief Officer for 2012. I, along with my elected Officers, intend visiting all Lodges within the Province to thank you all and promote my chosen Charities. I joined the Order in 1971 and achieved all four of my Degrees in my Mother Lodge, The Eric Knght Lodge, based in Cookley. I was very pleased to be presented with my Royal of Honour emblem on 24th May 2001, by Bro.Phil Hill R.O.H., a most enjoyable evening. I have been City Secretary of my Lodge since 1991 and although now low in numbers feel duty bound to continue to serve my fellow Brothers as their Secretary. I was honoured to be elected to to Provincial Grand Primo and sincerely thank all Brethren for the faith they have shown in placing me where I am today. My Charities!!! I have chosen to share my fund raising between Kidney Research U.K. and my Kidney Patients Association. My attachment to kidney research comes from my personal connection whereby I had kidney failure aged 32(now 64) and due to ongoing research have been the recipient of three transplants, the last of which has given me 23 years of 'normal life.' Life on a dialysis machine is very dibilitating and once off the machine you just go downhill waiting for your next session. I have seen great improvements, including a new dialysis system which does away with the need for a machine. Unfortunately not every patient is suitable for this type of dialysis. A transplant is the best hope available and the system needs as many people to join the Donor Register as possible( I fully understand this giving comes at a very sad time but it may help others to alter their lifestyle) Remember, regrettably kidney failure affects us from any age. I intend raising funds by way of sales of pens, trolley tokens and badges. I have placed collecting boxes at several venues in my local area and will be holding social functions throughout the year. I hope you find the above interesting and my thanks to you all. Yours fraternally, Bro.Terry Wilson R.O.H. P.G.P.2012.
