Worcestershire Provincial Grand Lodge

Benevolence Fund Committee

Benevolence and the practice of caring for Brothers and their dependants are seated well within the promise made by all members at their initiation, “to succour and defend a Worthy Brother under circumstances of difficulty or need”.

This, in the eyes of most of us, is the foundation stone on which our Order stands and has evolved from, and should be maintained as the main principle that guides us.

Each of our Minor and Provincial Grand Lodges therefore must have a Benevolent Fund.

In Worcestershire, a committee elected from the members of Provincial Grand Lodge administer the Fund. Being President of this committee is a great honour that also carries great responsibilities. During his year the President will visit Lodges within the Province and promote the fund and the principles by which it functions. To encourage the financial support needed to keep abreast of the needs of those who require assistance, and to promote awareness of our commitment to each other are of equal importance. A visit, a phone call or someone to run an errand can be all that’s needed to give that boost.

We feel that, over the years, we have developed a fund that is strong enough to be of real assistance to those in need, and that we can, where needed, provide the correct advice.

Benevolent Presidents Charity Evening.

Each President, during his year, has the privilege of being host at a Charity Evening held usually at Kidderminster Town Hall. This is the only function held in the Province that is expected to make a profit and it is this profit that is usually  the largest single donation to the Fund.
